Did you need a file/FTP manager for your Joomla site? Of course. In fact, after you install Joomla this should be the next item on your list.
And if you need one, why don't use the best around? joomlaXplorer is a File- and FTP - Manager developed and maintained by Sören Eberhardt. It allows you to edit
files, delete, copy, rename, archive and unpack files/directories
directly on your server. You can - Browse Directories & Files -
Edit, Copy, Move and Delete files - Search, Upload and Downloading
files - Create new files and directories - Change file permissions
(chmod) and much more. The script is based on QuiXplorer 2.3.1.
This component solves the infamous "CANT DELETE FILE OR FOLDER FROM THE
FTP BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT THE OWNER" problem wich is making the most Joomla admin-wannabee's life a hell. (More background info on this, why can occur and what are the benefits/drawbacks you can find in this tip). Although slated to be fixed in
future version of Joomla this component allows you to delete those
files.
It also provides you a little status bar telling you the amount of
space on the hard drive your site resides on. I think that is a neat addon. By default the component is restricted to be used by SuperAdmins only!
